Writers and editors share a common goal: to make a manuscript the best it can be. As your editor, my job is to help direct your work while maintaining your natural voice and style. In addition to written communication, I will verbally consult with you throughout the writing process to help ensure the best result. My experience includes fiction and non-fiction books, news and magazine articles, and business communications.
My clients say I am fast, accurate, insightful and easy to work with! Please contact me for a free sample edit of the first five pages of your manuscript (double-spaced, 12 point font).
Developmental editing: Define the big picture. Analyze what has been written at each stage and guide the author in developing the plot, storyline and characters, if fiction. Includes, for both non-fiction and fiction, clarifying ambiguities, vagueness and inconsistencies. Services may also involve rewriting, formatting, organizing material and working with the flow. Copyediting: Review entire manuscript to improve readability. Services include checking for proper word usage and grammar, eliminating wordiness, ensuring proper sentence and paragraph structure, and polishing language for clarity. Will check for continuity in plot, setting, consistency in dates/timelines, and character traits. Proofreading: The last stage in the process. Includes grammar, spelling, and punctuation check. Fact checking provided upon request. References: Available upon request. Rates: Rates range from $1.00 - $1.50 per page for proofreading. Hourly rates are negotiated for all other services after consultation. |
